Mittels Erdbeobachtung kann ein sehr vollst&#xE4;ndiges Bild der &#x201E;Gesundheit&#x201C; des Planeten in vielen Bereichen gewonnen werden, etwa f&#xFC;r das Ressourcenmanagement, Umwelt- und Klimamonitoring und Katastrophenmanagement.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"glossaryLink\" title=\"Glossary: Copernicus\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Copernicus&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Former name GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security), the EU&#x2019;s Copernicus Earth observation programme, comprising in-situ elements (measurement tools) and the space segment (satellites).&lt;\/div&gt;\" href=\"https:\/\/esa-schoolatlas.eu\/esa-schoolatlas\/de\/glossary\/copernicus\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">Copernicus<\/a> ist heute das ambitionierteste aktive Erdbeobachtungsprogramm. Es liefert genaue, zeitnahe und leicht zug&auml;ngliche Informationen zur Verbesserung des Umweltmanagements, zum Verst&auml;ndnis und Bek&auml;mpfen der Auswirkungen des Klimawandels sowie zum Sicherstellen der allgemeinen Sicherheit. Diese Initiative wird von der Europ&auml;ischen Kommission (EC) in Partnerschaft mit der Europ&auml;ischen Weltraumagentur (<a class=\"glossaryLink\"  title=\"Glossary: ESA\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;ESA&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;The European Space Agency&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/esa-schoolatlas.eu\/esa-schoolatlas\/de\/glossary\/esa\/\"  target=\"_blank\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>ESA<\/a>) geleitet.<\/p>\n<p>Um die breite Anwendung von Satellitendaten und das Bewusstsein der EU-B&#xFC;rger f&#xFC;r den deren gro&#xDF;es Potenzial zu st&#xE4;rken hat die ESA eine F&#xFC;lle von Aktivit&#xE4;ten gestartet, durch die Lehrer und Sch&#xFC;ler &#xFC;ber Erdbeobachtung informiert werden sollen und die einen einfachen Zugang zu Material f&#xFC;r den Gebrauch im Unterricht bereitstellen. Im Zusammenhang mit diesen Aktivit&#xE4;ten wurde 2005 ein erster ESA Schulatlas ver&#xF6;ffentlicht.
